It's a while off yet but I'm planning a trip to Galax in 2018. The festival is early August. Any other festivals in the 2 weeks leading up to it? I'll probably have a car so can travel a bit. Also looking for any places of interest (such as The Smithsonian Institute?). Maybe a flight to Canada for a weekend. I play the standard bluegrass and flatpicking repertoire as well as some gospel to a reasonable level. Many thanks....
