Hi folks...

I received an e-mail from the Flatpicker Hangout that some new information had been added here and that I should check it out...

I decided to follow-up and see what's changed, if anything...

In the process, I saw that Janolov is now the owner/administrator of this site?

Cool!

I always got along well with Janolov, he's a gentleman's gentleman...

Congratulations, Janolov on your new post as owner/administrator...

Change subject...

I took my first guitar lessons in June of 1968 and have owned and played guitar ever since...

After listening to classic rock in my teens, I accidentally came across Norman Blake's "Whiskey Before Breakfast" album at a Peaches Record Store in Ballwin, Missouri (USA), not far from St. Louis...

Once I heard Norman's record, in fact it was "Arkansas Traveler" that changed my attitude about what I wanted to do musically... forever!

In 1983, I had an opportunity to drive from St. Louis, MO to Winfield, Kansas for a Norman Blake Concert at Winfield High School, Winfield, KS.

A friend and I drove the 8 1/2 hours out there, saw the concert with Norman, wife Nancy and Larry Sledge (sideman) and again, was simply amazed...

A year or two later, I got to see Norman in St. Louis at Fontbonne College... Loved the show...

I personally believe we could change the world in a positive way if instead of hearing the 'piped in' music that currently plays in gas stations around the United States, we would hear Norman flatpicking his heart out... People wouldn't know what to do or say... But they would notice that the music 'changed'!  ;)

Or John Hartford... or all of the above...

I am an open-minded guy living in a closed-minded world...

And I  would love to be able to influence folks who don't know about acoustic and traditional music, no matter the instrument, with the music that sites like this and the Banjo Hangout support...

I'm glad to be back, glad to see Janolov at the helm of the (Fingerstyle Forum), and will become a contributor once again...

I'm always working on guitar stuff, both flatpicking and fingerstyle since I still teach guitar, mandolin, banjo and fiddle at the local music store level...

Pick on, folks!

Tom, where did you get your information?   Everything I find still shows Eric Schlange and owner/administrator.

Yeah, I'm not sure where he got this info, either. Perhaps you're part of a GROUP that Janolov is the admin of?

I'm still the sole owner of FPHO and the other Hangouts.

Thanks Eric ... I appreciate this site and your effort in running it. R/

Showed up in my e-mail sent from the Hangout... See the red circle and question mark...

Duh, Tom, that's administrator of the GROUP, not the site.  Groups are just part of the Hangout and whoever starts a group is name admin/owner of the GROUP, not the site, like Eric said above.

Sorry for the trouble, Sherry...

Tom, not a problem.  No trouble at all.  Just wanted to get things straightened out.  It's an easy mistake to make.

Don't see a need for you to be rude about it.

The guy made an honest mistake.

Welcome Back... its' been too long

GuitarTom2 - Posted - 05/17/2017:  00:27:44

Hey Kirbonite!

Long time no talk 'em to!

Glad you're still around...

Ccraven... No offense taken on Sherry's comment... She was just teasing me...

I've always been on good terms with Sherry...

...

I've still got acoustic guitar fever...

This year I've obtained 2 new acoustics, a dreadnought flattop (Oscar Schmidt) and 2 days ago, a Yamaha classical...

I love Martins and have been an owner of such for many years, but I'm entering the August of life and have grown a serious appreciation of inexpensive instruments of any sort that out perform their price tags...
