I lost my teacher due to Covid....learned the Am Pentatonic scale and I am ok at strumming and Chord changes but getting bored with strum, strum. :) When is a good time to start learning to finger pick? Any suggestions on a good book or Youtube Vids on getting me started. Thank you.

You might try this website, it will help you evaluate were your at. If you feel you're ready, you'll be able to get lessons (free) to get you started. justinguitar.com

You need at least 5 years until you could be recognized as a good amateur. You can search on YouTube for video tutorials

The instructional "Travis-Style Guitar From Scratch" by Bruce Emery will get a person started.
The audio is downloadable and free. Just tab and tab is in some case the best way to go. And fingerpicking guitar instruction for a novice is one of those cases. I had to order the book from the author. Nice big neat text - I like that.

I'm a big fan of Bruce Emory's stuff. Can't recommend it highly enough.
