Hello from the UK. I am new to this site, this being my first post. Having played guitar when I was younger, I started playing seriously again just over two years ago. I am currently using a Happy Traum flatpicker book that contains three different variants of Wildwood Flower. I love this tune and recently saw a Youtube video of the Carter family performing this. It took me a lot of practice, with my very tolerant wife being supportive, but I am probably now at a the playing level that I was when younger. Having just retired I now have the time for some serious practice. I am currently working on some variations of Arkansas Traveller and have just started 600 miles. Although having a background of traditional English folk music ,it no longer interests me to the degree of the America that I now listen to. This is probably due to years ago my being introduced to Doc Watson and it went ftom there. I believe I will benefit significantly in joining this site. Thank you for your time if you read this and take care. Tama

When I started playing "Wildwood Flower" and/or "Under The Double Eagle" were tunes flatpickers played when they started out. Now I seldom hear those tunes. And at jams, most guitarists cannot even play those tunes. Lots of guitar players only play rhythm.
