Just purchased a Recording King RD-328. Seems pretty nice, only had it 1 day. Does anybody know much about the 30 year aged adi. spruce. Wondering its going to open up much? I've heard Recording King says they use the thinnist finish?? It's not nitro. Seems maybe the 30 year aged would be better than torrified.

I own an Eastman E10D TC. To my ear it sounds great. Not as good as my Santa Cruz, but a heck of a lot closer in sound than the price difference between the two guitars.
I get the impression that the conditions in which a tree grows has a lot to do with how well it will serve as wood for a musical instrument. For example, the Maple growing in certain parts of cold climates grow slower and have a denser wood that faster growing maples elsewhere. Maple from these trees are popular with banjo enthusiast. So temperature, humidity, and other climatic factors are important - not just how old the harvested trees were.
If I were to buy a top notch guitar, I would research and find where the trees for the wood grew.
I would also want to know the exact type of trees, not the tree family itself. For example, there are different types of mahogany and they all do not possess the same musical qualities. And all rosewood are not Brazilian rosewood.
Eastman writes that the E10D has the same woods as the Martin D28. When I read that, I felt that the species of wood would be the same. But that did not mean the quality of wood would be the same. I wanted a very good sounding reasonably priced guitar, and that is what I received.
