Welcome!

From Kallesandria on 1/30/2011 7:19:26 AM

Well, since no one has posted the first entry, I'll try it!  Welcome to the new group.  I'm a beginning flatpicker, having played just fingerstyle for the last 20 years.  It's almost like starting over, except the learning curve is probably a little easier because of the experience.  Still, coordinating my left and right hands is brand new, as all the flatpick runs are so totally different than fingerstyle.  But I'm having a ball doing it!

Well, I guess I am number 2. Karen beat me to it. Welcome to the new group. I have been finger picking (mostly Travis style) and flat picking for almost 40 years, but still learn new things everyday. I recently decided to learn the Resonator Guitar, aka The Dobro and what a challenge that is going to be. Talk about starting over. It is lots of fun though.

Has anyone heard from my friend Karen? She has not been online for 1.5 months. Hope she is OK.

Hi Karen
I'm in the same boat as you. Always prided myself on fingerstyle but I love the sound of a flatpicked guitar and decided to try it. Love playing Irish traditional tunes but speed and timing is my nemesis.
MapleNuts I think we may have to start a Lost & Found Flatpickers Group!
We can just hope Karen is OK!

Is this group active? If so, help this flatpicker learn some finger style, hehe. I am a learn by ear picker, been flatpicking and crosspicking, trying to learn some fingerpicking, I love the 'Mississippi John Hurt" style. Holler at me, I have some videos to share that might help someone leran a lick or two.
