I am going to use this blog area to chronicle the learning process and advances I make of the next . . .. well, until I get bored write down my progress. Anyone is welcome to read it. However, I am really writing this for myself. If you do read this, and have a constructive suggestion or comment, please feel free to respond.
I was given a guitar when I was 16 years old, that was 30 some years ago. About the only thing I ever did was to learn the major chords, most seventh, and most minors. I was never able to learn to bar. I learned to do some simple finger picking, and to strumming.
I mostly played for my own enjoyment and have never played with anyone else. There were months, maybe years, when I did not touch my guitar. However, over the past few months I have been listening to a lot of Bluegrass and Folk music and have developed a desire to learn to flat pick. I would really like to be able to sit down with a group of Bluegrass players and "Jam".
I had to sale my guitar sever months ago. However, I have gotten my hands on a Yamaha FG-Junior. However, I refuse to call it a Junior guitar. I call it a "travel guitar". For some reason it makes me feel better to play a travel guitar rather then a Junior.
I purchased several picks yesterday to which to experiment. I guess my goal is to find one that fits my hand well, produces a nice sound, and produces a load sound.
My first objective is to work on scales. First, to get them down without mistakes and then to speed them up. I am attempting to use a metronome.
So, that is where I am at right now. I will attempt to make at least weekly up-dates.
