say jim thats nice of you, when i got it first i was,nt sure but the guy in the store musta put crappy strings on but i changed them and am playin for about 20 weeks now , i just love the sound from it , i like to get the action done to make a tad easier for try,n to play fiddle tunes but i,m afraid it will affect the sound, what you think

Check the action at the nut. You don't need much clearance at the first fret. A business card is a good gauge.
