This was a yard sale find. $100... Felt guilty the whole way home.

What a deal! How much tweaking did it need?
My brother and I bought a '58 J50 in about 1961 for $125. Taking inflation into account, we overpayed.

Hey Jim... The Gibson had a split bridge and a seriously gouged fingerboard. I replaced both and bought a HS Case. I never play it because I have big hands and it has a very narrow fingerboard. I haven't been on the hangout much lately. Your profile picture looked like a D-21 so I checked out your profile. My main guitar is a D-21, 1957. She's the gal of my dreams. Makes me wonder why everyone doesn't want a D-21. Other than a pre-war D, I wouldn't want anything else. I joined your D-21 group and will post a picture of it some day. I also see that you bought an LG. I just sold a 1965 LG-0 and have been looking for just the right L-0 myself.

Hey Jim, Looks like that Old J-50 has seen a lot of love too! I've been tempted to convert that bridge on mine too. I think I might just try an insert with saddle first. That adjustable bridge robs the guitar of so much sound.

It was a ceramic saddle. Luthier Ed Dick inserted a piece of rosewood into the cavity and made a bone saddle for the bridge.
