From our 2008 CD "Front Porch Pickin' and Singin". I'm on lead guitar, my grandfather (Johnny Jackson) is singing lead and playing rhythm guitar, my grandmother (Edith Jackson) is singing tenor, and my wife (Cindi Stiltner) is playing bass.

love your Grandfather's voice....sounds real and sincere. As I would expect, your guitar work was exceptional. Just one word of caution....I would be very careful of how much backup work you do behind the vocal during verses. In this case, I thought it was tasteful and fit the song to a Tee. But it would be very easy to overplay and take some of the attention off of the singer and the song's message......(please know that this is only a suggestion and is 100% intended to be positive---so don't beat me up, OK).......Last thing, at the 2:13 mark you throw a "off the wall" chord out there....man that was good to me. I spit Pepsi all over the keyboard. As they say in one of them KFC Hot Wing TV commercials.."I didn't see that coming"...hehe
Good Job

Thanks alot Steve, and the "off the wall" chord is one I heard Don Reno do in "Money, Marbles, and Chalk", real tasteful to my ears......and I completely agree with the "careful not to overplay" thing, it can easily be done.......I patterned this backup exactly as Reno's in the old Reno and Smiley recording and I normally don't do backup as forceful as this, so I was instantly thinking if you thought it was overdone, I was gonna tell ya to blame Reno! lol.......and sorry bout the keyboard, hope all the Pepsi dripped out!

Wow, I wish my grandpa or father could sing like your grandfather. Nice backup vocals from your grandmother, too. That was masterful guitar work on your part - you are a first-class flatpicker. I'd have given each of you five stars individually, but I couldn't figure out how. You'll have to share the five I had available to give.

I probably listened to this 5 or 6 times straight. You all did a wonderful job on a great tune.
