Okay guys and dolls.  I may not qualify for your group so I need your approval.  I don't have a D-28 or an HD-28 but I do have a Custom 15.  Am I in???

Well, Jim, I could see this going either way. One way, of course, goes the the name of the group. It's pretty specific so those who joined this group have sort of "paid their dues" to be a member of this group. The other way of looking at it is to notice that prior to your entry, it's been two years since any one has dropped a finger on a keyboard in this group. While that speaks for the interest in this group, it may speak even more for the fact that D-28 owners would rather be plucking strings than keys. I guess my biggest question to you would be, what is it that you are wanting to be "in" and why? I'm sure some of the other groups are more active than this one. I don't think anyone here would turn their nose up at you and say, "come back when you've got the right guitar". I can only speak for myself, though.

I did kind a' notice the inactivity myself. I just thought that with the Custom 15 design being based on a pre-war D-28 I would be a shoe-in. It just won't fit in any of the other groups.

Why not start a group specific to your interest? (Or get yourself a D-28.)

For those who don't know, a Custom 15 is an HD-28 style Martin named for the 15th custom order from 1980 according to Mike Longsworth's book on Martin Guitars. It was based on the 1934 herringbone D-28 and was such a popular request that Martin added it to their special order list. It has similar features to the HD-28 but with "V" style neck, slotted diamond finger board inlays, and select Sitka and Rosewood. I believe sometime in the late 90's the name was changed to HD28V.
