Started playing on the ukulele 1955 then in 1956 five string banjo, I played professionally Jazz from 1961 until about mid sixties, I then started a new cabaret act a called the Banjo Aces and in the late sixties we added new members to the act and renamed Dixieland show band, playing Dixieland, rock, country, and bluegrass. And comedy In the seventy’s and eighties the bluegrass part of the band was invited to play at bluegrass festivals in the USA under the name of the Rainy City Bluegrass Boys(FROM MANCHESTER)--myself on banjo my late brother Bill Degney on guitar and the late Trevor Jones on bass and Bill Brady on mandolin. At the Oklahoma festival we where made honorary citizens of Oklahoma presented by the then governor George Nigh. To date I’m playing with Conwy mountain bluegrass.North Wales. Now retired from work so with in my spare time writing songs and tunes for banjo, mandolin. And Dobro
