I've been playing since I was 12. Started out with rock and roll and grunge. Have always loved good acoustic singer song-writers, especially Gordon Lightfoot. Got interested in flatpicking and bluegrass the first time that I heard Michelle Shocked (Arkansas Traveler). Later it was Steve Earle (Train a Comin'). Funny - both are Norman Blake. Took some lessons when I lived in Ann Arbor in the mid-90s from a guy who turned me onto Tony Rice, Norman Blake, Doc Watson - and never looked back. The guitar is my no. 1 instrument, but I'm currently really enjoying also playing mandolin and banjo. Currently playing banjo in the High Water String Band (Fredericton, NB). When I'm not working, I'm playing music, hanging out with my wife and my dog Daisy, or fishing salmon, muskies and smallies. Life is good. Keep pickin'
