I learned how to play at age 4 and have been practicing ever since! Chet Atkins and Merle Travis were my earliest influences. I also listened to a lot of Hank Sr., Merle Haggard, Porter Wagoner, Bill Anderson and Conway Twitty. Started playing small and medium sized club gigs 4 nights a week at age 13, 6 nights at age 16. At age 18, I met my best friend (and now Christian brother,) Jim Denney. He was a straight up, no holds barred southern rock and roller cut right from the cloth of Duane Allman. He learned country and bluegrass from me and I learned southern rock and blues from him. Over the past 30 years, we developed our own style of twin lead guitar as well as expanding our individual musical horizons to include avant guard Christian and Jazz as genres that we write, perform and incorporate into the other styles of music that we play. However, We always find our way back to the country, blues, and bluegrass roots that we were raised on. I've always felt that there are many talented musicians out there with excellent skills, but if you have versatility, that makes you even better. I'll be posting some non copyright music that Jim and I recorded back in 1984 as The Christal River Band. Hope you enjoy it and thanks for stopping by.
